You know something Dragon Age fans? It just occurred to me that there isn't nearly enough Maric fan art out there in the world. We have plenty for his sons and yet almost nothing for him and that my friends.. Is a real shame.

Anyway, since he's known to be real fortunate and lucky in the novels, I wanted to give him a look that basically says:

"Hm...Well. That didn't go the way I thought it would."

He always seems to come out alright no matter the situation he's in. Like, he's the sort of guy that would manage to win the Jack Pot at a Slot Machine right after someone who's been playing it for hours gives up on it. Or he'd be the one to be the One Millionth Customer at a grocery store and win a check for $100,000 just because he's just that lucky.

I have so much love for this character. I honestly didn't count on loving him as much as I do, but nearly every piece of dialogue coming from him while I was reading the book brought a smile to my face. He's just so genuine.

Granted, as far as fan art for him goes.. In that defense there's only 2 pictures of him available and those who haven't read the books have no idea who he is anyway other than he was the King of Ferelden prior to Cailan. Well, without giving anything away. He's a really amazing character, funny, loyal, while at the same time a real badass when he wants to be. The books Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne and Dragon Age: The Calling aren't pieces of great literature by any means but they are definitely worth the read especially if you're a fan of the game's lore.

It even gives you great insight on characters from the game itself to boot such as Loghain Mac Tir. It pretty much puts to question everything that you think you know about him. I know that I myself heavily disliked Loghain after my first playthough of Dragon Age: Origins but after reading the book.. Well.. Let's just say it's a lot easier to hate someone when you know nothing about them.

In the meanwhile, enjoy this fan art of King Maric! He definitely deserves more love than he's currently receiving.

i'm currently reading the calling (with little difficulties cause i'm french and no translation in my country...) and I begin to really like the caracter ^^

Well, you do get to see him as a old man and he looks like a bad ass.

Only for one frame though in the form of a flashback. I'm hoping he's still alive.
